For the first blog for The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative, I'd like to start with some basics that will help anyone who wants to be an entrepreneur. My father, Fred C. Trump, who was a real estate developer, gave me some great advice, great because the advice was not only solid, but it worked. In fact, it still works.

  1. He always told me to "know everything you can about what you're doing." In other words, be thorough. I watched him and he definitely practiced what he preached. He knew everything about construction and could show carpenters shortcuts. He was very focused as well as thorough.
  2. From an early age, my father impressed upon me that "the most important thing in life is to love what you're doing, because that's the only way you'll ever be really good at it." This is absolutely true, and that's why I so often mention that passion is necessary if you want to be successful. If you love what you're doing, the difficulties and setbacks will be much easier to handle. Passion can give you a great resiliency.
  3. My father had a Four-Step Formula for work:
     • Get in
     • Get it done
     • Get it done right
     • Get out

That formula is one reason he was so efficient. It's also one reason I'm known for getting things done. Keep this formula in mind and you'll discover how much time you can save.

Donald J. Trump is Chairman of The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative.

Why did you decide to change the name of the University?
Be honest. Is there something you're not telling us?

Thank you Mr. Trump,

This is so very true, I will be applying this ASAP, you can really get caught up in your life, sometimes I tend to forget, just staying focus is the big key. I will apply this not only to my business, also my life.

Hope to see you again really in the New York or Philadelphia area.

Your father is very wise, like yourself...

thanks again

I like the new name, doesn't sound so traditional as "The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative", and it sounds more forward, might be harder to remember though, but it's better.

And that is indeed good advice.

Right now I'm trying to get to work with my passion in life, and it's getting there.

Get In
Get it done
Get it done right
Get out.................sounds like.......nah forget it. haha. Keep it up Mr Trump!

Congratulations. This name is a more accurate description of what you are offering than a private university - although the respect that comes with a university might be a bit more than an initiative, I believe your impact will be more far reaching than a traditional university. You need a stronger tag line, and a few good quotes, and I'm not sure just what they should be - won't you brainstorm with me?

The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative:

Think big and play bigger
How to legally stack your deck
Playing to win
Laying the foundation for tomorrows business
Building our future one idea at a time

Continued...

Expanding our world (or economy) one idea at a time.
Building skills to build our future.
Learning to play the game.
Changing the rules.
More than just a name.
More than just a name - it's how to play the game.
Where preparation meets opportunity
Idease, Knowledge, Experience, Mentorship, Success
From idea incubation to market

(too bad it doesn't have an easy to remember acronym)

There is real wisdom in your father's formula. It should be on book marks, posters, t-shirts, and baseball caps.

Mr. Trump,

I really like the new name better, however the way the transition between the old and the new domain was implemented can cost you lots of lost search engine traffic. Many of your old website and blog pages have been indexed under the trumpuniversity.com domain, and when somebody finds one of those pages they doesn’t see the content they expected, but just the logo screen describing the brand change. I’m sure that your old domain and its internal pages had thousands of external links pointing to them, and you will lose this benefit (at least in the eyes of search engines), by not doing redirecting to the new domain.

You web development team may consider doing a 301 redirect at least for the internal pages of your website, so your new domain receives the authority (authority in the eyes of search engines) of the old domain. Here is how to do that:

http://www.tamingthebeast.net/articles3/changing-domain-names.htm

http://www.tamingthebeast.net/articles3/spiders-301-redirect.htm

Another option is to notify Google that you are changing domains, which should also save your search engine rankings, at least in Google. Here is

http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=8...

Of course if you don’t care for the free traffic sent to your old site by search engines, the change your web team did is just fine.

I hope my posts didn’t sound presumptuous, as I was just trying to point how you can get additional benefits from the domain and brand transition.

Thanks,

John

I find the new name empowering after being with Trump Initiative for a year. However, I don't know if I would have thought of myself as an "Entrepreneur" until now. I have been given incredible support, education, and training and look forward to the continued excellence that is associated with the Trump name. I don't know why you took out the name, "University", but like the fact that education and training are still part of the program. There is much to this profession and education is a big part of our success. Thank you for continuing to give us such a quality program.

What an honor you give your father as we approach, "Father's Day". I believe his ideals are reflected through you giving us a wonderful role-model. Thank you.....

Mr. Trump, I totally agree with what you say about china because as we all know our country is right now at its worse. There is simple way to care for this problem and paying more attention to the problem with china is the first and most important.
